THE UNDERWATER BELIEVERS

d. a. t. a.

The Underwater Believers is the solo project of Phoenix-based artist Eric D. Moore.  UB is a haunting foray into the ambient-restlessness and lonesome-joy that defined the 1980s post-punk, goth, and new wave movements.  Steeped in influences such as The Cure, Cocteau Twins, Dead Can Dance, and Depeche Mode, UB is a modern amendment to an era defined by the juxtaposition of synthetic precision and emotion.

Blade Runner-esque synths and pitch-shifted guitars, drenched in reverb, support Moore's dark and reflective vocals which evoke the ponderings of the electric troubadors.  Power-filled shamanic yawps and initmate falsettos reveal a voice that is comfortable combing the depths of singers from Edith Piaff to Perry Farrell weaving a web of beauty, power, and introspection in the process.

Upcoming Release and Shows
Fall 2025 UB will release its 4th album, the follow-up to last year's '1983.'  Originally from the west coast, Moore is bringing UB back out of the desert, booking 30-45 minute sets at intimate venues along the west coast including cities he once called home- SAN, LAX, SFO, PDX, SEA.

Despite Moore's stream-lined, analogue set-up of a Novation Circuit Tracks and electric guitar, he has managed to craft a live sound that is both immense,  imaginative, and beautiful.

Check the LIVE tab for upcoming shows in 2025/6.

The Underwater Believers' music, along with the catalogue of Moore's previous bands (Details of Eating and The Health & Rifle Club), can be found on all streaming platforms.
